Tried it for the first time when I visited the UK. Figured I’d order some and it was just as good here at home at it was in the UK.
Just like in England
Great pasty
Can you make traditional English roast potatoes, just like Sunday dinner.
It’s been a long time since tasting good old fashion “bangers”. The Wife having returned from Malta vacation mentioned the English style breakfast. She loved it. So I did my best to duplicate it… win win for me.
Indeed it was and is a good change from regular bacon! Not salty more meat than fat. Pleasant surprise.
I went to England in October and the first thing I wanted was pork pies I was so disappointed couldn't really find any and when I did they were terrible I found posh food on line and thought why not give them a try they were so delicious exactly what I remember I will definitely order them again everything I order was amazing thank you Nick for giving us brits a taste of England
I was quite hesitant in buying a pork pie as many of those made in UK these days are only fit for the garbage pail. I was also afraid the meat would be more like sausage meat.
I baked the pie per the helpful instruction leaflet and used about half of the gelatin. When all was ready I cut a small tasting wedge not expecting to eat much more.
Wow! What an experience. A perfect pie pastry with good crunch, a jolly good meat texture, nicely spiced which along with the moisture of the meat itself kind of jingles the taste buds. The gelatin package made more than the pie could absorb but instead of chucking it away per the instructions, I put it in the fridge to set and ate it with the pie. As a kid, I could never get enough gelatin in a pie and this excess really enhances the pie experience, in my opinion.
Obviously one can’t expect to get original Melton Mowbray pork, fed on local milk byproducts of the local farming area, but I’ve yet to find any better pies than the Jolly Posh Melton Mowbray pork pie. Unlike some pies on the market, the lid is firmly sealed and doesn’t lift during baking.
Well made; well done!
I’ll be buying more but will be very fussy who I share the delicacy with!
When my Dad and I were in Ireland, eating real Irish breakfasts, every one had a pudding. The black pudding was very dry in Ireland, possibly over cooked, but these from Jolly Posh, made at home on our griddle, much better!
Stay with me here.
I use the haggis to mix with ground beef and pork.
It makes the BEST meatloaf on the planet.
Side of mash.
Homemade preserved chili sauce to glaze and dip.
As expected, these bangers are absolutely delicious.
Juicy (don’t prick em) and flavorful.
Served with mash, undressed lettuce, and chutney.
