Steak Pies

Steak pies are often eaten with a form of potato along with a vegetable accompaniment. The most popular combinations include chips (french fries) or mashed potatoes, and then a vegetable of your choice including garden peas or green beans. Steak pies are almost always accompanied by additional gravy to make the meal even more flavourful.

Shortcrust pastry and buttery puff pastry are most commonly used for savory pies due to the crumbly and buttery nature of the case. Other types of pastry used for pies include puff pastry which is often used as a simple lid rather than an encompassing case. Our pies are filled into a shortcrust pastry base with a buttery puff pastry lid.

Our pies are blast frozen immediately after we’ve made them, to seal in the freshness and quality. The are shipped to you frozen in thermal cooler with dry ice and ice packs. When they arrive to your property, they can be stored in the freezer until the best-by date indicated on the package, which is usually at least six months.

In the UK, a steak pie is a much-loved classic meat pie. It consists of tender stewing steak, and flavourful beef gravy, encased in a tasty pastry shell. Occasionally, you may also come across assorted vegetables in the filling such as carrots, onions and cabbage.

If you want to warm up a steak pie in an air fryer, you can easily heat slices of pie or whole small pies at 170 degrees in your air fryer for 4-5 minutes. Another option is to use a built-in reheat function that you may have. This method ensures that the pie is heated all the way through and keeps the pastry wonderfully flaky.

Steak pie is not usually gluten-free but gluten-free alternatives can be made using gluten-free pastry, steak cuts and gravy. Plain cuts of butcher's meat are usually naturally gluten-free but ensure that it is not floured or breaded using gluten products.
